My name is Muriel Scott.
I was born in Queens, New York, but my parents are originally from Haiti. I was also raised there for the most part of my youth. I was born from both parents musicians so I have been around music practically all my life. I started singing when I was about 12 years old But I didn’t start believing in my talent until I was in my twenties. I have had quite a few vocal influences amongst which I can name these: Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Chanté Moore, Diana Krall, Jill Scott, Norah Jones, Joss Stone and Mariah Carey. My biggest influence today though is Christina Aguilera. I have a lot of respect for her talent and believe that she is one of the most talented vocalists of all time. I have done a lot of work with my Haitian peers in the past incuding Skandal, Kompa Kreyol, Jackito and the old group Zenglen.
My late fiancé and I also scored a Haitian Movie called VIP which also had its radio sitcom version on Radio Metropole in Haiti. I have also done a lot of radio Jingles in Haiti whether for major companies or radio shows. I am a singer/songwriter and I compose, arrange and produce all of my music. I hope to,one day, be able to share my gift with the rest of the world. As far as musical preferences, I am pretty versatile. I have worked at being able to interpret any style. I am a strong believer that the world would be a pretty terrible place to live in without music
